Single User/Standalone License Management Overview

Once your customers subscription is set up, they will receive a confirmation email. They can create an Autodesk ID or use their existing ID and log in to Autodesk Account. The specified user on your order will be the Contract Manager and also the assigned user of the license.

Adding and assigning users to have access to the software

For subscription, each user must be assigned to the product in order to have access to the software. Give the user access to both Product Downloads and Products that Need to be Accessed.

Example: David L. is an assigned user. Because the license holds 3 seats, 2 seats remain available to be assigned to other users. David L. can also remove himself as a user and assign the seat to someone else.

Adding or Removing Users in User Management

  1. Identifies: Subscription, Perpetual, Maintenance Plan, or Education.
    Distinguishes between single-user or multi-user.

  2. Identifies: Stand-alone, Network, or Autodesk ID.

  3. Identifies: Serial Number / Product ID, or
“No serial number needed – just sign in” (for Autodesk ID license type).

Access and Download Software

Subscribers just need to sign in to their Autodesk Account to download their assigned software. There are three download methods available in Autodesk Account to best suit users installation needs and internet-connection speed. They are: Install Now, Download Now or Browser Download.

Product activation is the process of verifying that a product license is valid so that you can access the software. The verification method depends on your license type and where and how you download the software. In some cases, you don't need to activate at all; you just sign in.

If the activation is sign in, then internet connection is required. For the initial installation and sign in, an Internet connection is required. After activation, the software works offline for up to 30 days. After 30 days, connect to the Internet to continue using the software. The software reminds you seven days before you need to connect to the Internet to renew your license. An Internet connection is required to access cloud services.

You can find information about your license on the Management tab in your Autodesk Account.

When you run the software for the first time, you need to log in using the account details that were created earlier.

For subscription products, you need to connect to the Internet once every 30 days to verify the account status.
